Don't dawdle along the way, little red. It's late and the woods are dangerous. A thirteen years old girl is living in the outskirts of the city, near a forest. She spends most of the time on the playground in front of her house, right at the edge of the forest, but her parents forbid her to ever enter into the woods. This restriction only intensifies the girl’s curiosity about what is inside. When the girl catches a glimpse of some of the characters who populate the forest late in the evening, she finds herself sneaking inside to investigate. In her journey she discovers what happens there at night, when prostitutes and transvestites offer their services to unknown men. She naively witnesses erotic scenes, which she can not fully perceive in a sexual manner, so she filters them through her own childish perspective, filling in the blanks with fantasy. Her journey into the magical forest ends with her own fantastic initiation into eroticism. The film focuses on the idea of infantile eroticism and the transition from childhood to adolescence, when the child’s sexual views are only in their early instinctual stages of development and much under the influence of the child’s beliefs in the surreal.
