3 Dreams of Horses

FRENCH PREMIERE

Film is made out of gelatin that comes from horses. They’re waiting to be slaughtered, so that pictures can be made. Many years ago we learned the language of our masters. Though we couldn’t help wondering why so few of you bothered to learn ours. Three scenes featuring horses, remembering Jacinto. The first is a daytime forest haunting that winds up at a carousel, the second a rainy street in Portugal, the finale a nighttime vigil of fire and water. A triptych in which the figure of the horse becomes a medium for meditation on its various incarnations as symbol, domesticated animal for human domination, and its abstract power as spirit.

#Water /knowhowknow is a fictionalized documentary and a visual sound poem about our relationship with the ocean,- investigations based on the local situation from the Froan edging the Norwegian sea to the inner Trondheim fjord. We are all local inhabitants and global participants. The film with the sound composed by Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje, takes us through the fisheries down to the bottom of the ocean and its inhabitants, through historical flashes, boat building traditions, human vulnerability and hybris, subsea technologies and aquafarming watched by the mythical figurine "Guri Kunna" of the Froan sea - whom represent the forces of the oceans and the ancient knowledge of how to live with the sea. This is the first chapter in the short film series Knowhowknow investigating human relationship to its surroundings. The original title #Tjaetsie is water in the south Sami language.

The building, a former bank, holds the leading role, whilst voices of professionals with a unique perspective on the space encourage us to observe hidden details. Through their eyes, we explore how built environment can be misused, as if every building was a spatial puzzle waiting to be solved.

4 - 14 october 2018

The section "Cinéma in Transgression" offers middle or feature lengh films out of norm and order, between fiction and documentary, characterised by complex audio-visual languages, unpredictable associations based on unconcient, metaphorical and metonymical proceedings. In this way these films can express the complexity of reality.
