On 31 December 2003, Lucie Tremblay decided to write to the man who abused her between ages eight and twelve. She is determined to personally deliver the letter. She films her journey to gain closure for the trauma that has haunted her whole life. When her son finds the footage well over a decade later, he decides to turn it into a film: A Woman and her Car. An intimate homage to the courage of an exceptional woman who decided to stand up for herself and a savage condemnation of the bastards who abuse the innocence of others and think they can get away with it.

Jury Statement :

A night in a small polish village. Eight year old Kornel can't fall asleep. For the first time in his life he's confronted with a death in his family. At dawn he leaves the house to see if the world outside still exists and where the line between life and death is.

In preparation for Christmas, a local service-club holds their annual charity event. Disadvantaged households are drawn by lottery and members of the organisation then visit these families in order to deliver a financial donation. It is on such an occasion that two respectable men – Mister Chappuis and Mister Da Silva – encounter the Rapin family. On this night, however, nothing goes according to plan. Each member of the Rapin family expresses a different attitude towards accepting their generosity. Sometimes the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Jury Statement :
Trying to do good to others can be a painful proces, especially when such noble motives are being obscured by naive selfishness and well meant paternalism. Sophie Perrier offers us a biting comedy of errors that transcends the anecdotal and that reminds us that humanitarism starts by looking at the other and critically inside ourselves.

Over presents a crime scene. During the course of 9 wide shots, we watch an intriguing story unfold. What's happened in this quiet neighbourhood? A murder, hit-and-run, an accident? The reality is profound, and deeply unexpected.

Jury Statement :

The leopard shall lie down with the goat. The wolves shall live with the lambs. And the young boy will lead them.

Jury Statement :

Who needs a home and family when you've got four wheels? A man leads an organized life. He jogs each morning, works in the office nine to five, picks up the laundry once a week. True, he lives in his car, and he hasn’t seen his wife and daughter for a while. But don’t we all need a little break from the world every so often? Part character study, part road movie, RESPITE is the atmospheric story of a modern-day hermit.

Jury Statement :
