A voyage through time, evolution and the kingdoms of life towards the natural destruction wrought upon the planet by the human species. Exploring geological epochs and kingdoms of life, Realms voyages through deep time from the primeval ocean to a post-human future. The film employs visual storytelling, seeking to replace the anthropocentric worldview with greater attention to the complex interrelationships and dependencies between organisms, and between animate and inanimate nature. |

|
|
Jury Statement :
A celebration of the beautiness of life which is disappearing in front of our eyes. Creating a unique and genuine causality "Realms" is a purely visual description of our paradise lost.

|
Director Statement :
The Divine Way follows the epic descent of a woman through an endless
labyrinth of staircases. As in life, in this film every new step is
exciting, full of curiosity and fear. We are all wandering and seeking
for ourselves. No one knows what is the right way and we often find
ourselves lost in the middle of our life path. The film depicts the
mystical path of life’s journey, which sometimes pushes us into total
darkness, in order to see where the light truly comes from.
Thank you very much for the award and to have screened our film at

Inspired by both Italian Renaissance paintings and contemporary news broadcasts from Gaza protests at the border with Israel - the work processes human gestures and figures in landscape into a dark and colourful scramble. The work aims to open up an array of reflections, including concerns about the political image, image of the political, the politics of the image, and the image of image. |

2018 | 00:22:00
It rained non-stop when Hong Kong was rocked by the tumultuous events in October 2014. At the university hall, young souls are assigned to different rooms amid the sounds of rain, studies and heavy discussions. These strangers come from a variety of backgrounds but are united by their passion towards the society. They may have dissenting opinions, but will learn to accept and be sympathetic to each other. The rainy night feels especially ominous when the students ponder at the events in Mong Kok. |
|
|
|
Jury Statement :
In one accurate composition "The Umbrella" creates three parallel theatre-like stages. This distant approach subtly linked by the symbol of an umbrella makes us think in wider perspective about both, political and social means of freedom.
