Strengthened by the soundtrack, this animation opposes images and
texts in line with the ideas of Vilém Flusser: texts and images
confront one another in the representation of the real world. This
dialectical relationship, whose synthesis is yet to be discovered, is
matched in the video by another opposition: tribal men living in
equilibrium with nature, contrasting with the divergences of technical
progress. L’inter-code questions the possibilities and limits of
science and its materialization in technology.

Originating from a prompt to two ambulance drivers in Karachi to
retell recurring dreams that occur in their sleep,
'This Shaking Keeps Me Steady' explores the permeable boundaries
between memory and fiction, and between lived trauma, its
recollection, and its re-enactment. First responders reflect on the
aftermath of violent events, while television re-enactment actors
audition for, and perform the gendered roles of victim, perpetrator,
and witness in scenarios ranging from the banal to tragic. Unfolding
through rituals, preparations, dreams, and performance, we never see
the tragic events themselves, but catch traces of the extent to which
they have been internalized by a society.

In its unbiased observation of the coulisses and façades of a
contemporary free-time phenomenon - real-life escape games - this film
raises questions of surveillance, the human yearning to act out roles
and the relationship between imprisonment and desire.

The section "Cinéma in Transgression" offers middle or feature lengh films out of norm and order, between fiction and documentary, characterised by complex audio-visual languages, unpredictable associations based on unconcient, metaphorical and metonymical proceedings. In this way these films can express the complexity of reality.
