Axel Estein
Autriche

Axel Estein studied Japanology, History, Philosophy at Freie Universität Berlin. Founding member, co-publisher of Splatting Image. Organizer of Howl: Weekend of Fear film festivals (1991 – 1995). Consulting, curating, organizing festivals like Exground, Asian Hot Shots, Interfilm, Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Tampere Film Festival Philippine Focus and many other events since 1989.

Contributor to various printed and web-based matter (national, international). Lecturer (national, international). Organized first complete retrospectives of Lav Diaz (2008) and Brillante Mendoza (2010) in Germany.

Recenty curates in cooperation with Philippine governmental bodies a comprehensive Retrospective of Philippine cinema scheduled for 2014 in Berlin. Member of NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema). Served on juries for several film festivals worldwide. Lives in Berlin and Manila.



 

 

Anna Isabelle Matutina
Philippines
sdn Anna Isabelle Matutina is a Broadcast Communications graduate from the University of the Philippines and has been working in television for over a decade. In 2004, she ventured into independent filmmaking through a digital film workshop at the Mowelfund Film Institute and started producing her own short films right after. Since then, Matutina dabbled in both television and film as director, writer and editor. Matutina's independent works consist mostly of short fiction films though she currently works as a director and editor for the television documentary program, I-Witness.

In 2012, the documentary episode she directed, “I-Witness: Alkansya," won the UNICEF Asia-Pacific Child Rights Award and was also nominated in last year's International Emmy Awards.

Many of her films have also been screened in local and international festivals and some have won awards. Her most recent works in film are "Imik" which won 2nd place in Gawad CCP in 2012. It was also selected last year for the Tampere International Short Film Festival in Finland. Her first solo independent documentary film, “Magdalena” was also selected in last year's Exground Film Festival in Wiesbaden, Germany, won 1st place in Gawad CCP 2013, and competed in this year's Taiwan International Documentary Festival.

Céline Pimentel est programmatrice au sein du festival l'Alternativa : depuis 2009, d'abord pour la section Hall, que je coordonne et programme intégralement depuis 2012, puis également pour les programmes d'Échange avec d'autres festivals et des rétrospectives pour les Sections Parallèles  comme "Alexander Kluge" en 2010, "Translations: Independent Documentary Filmmaking in Turkey" en 2011, "Jeanne Balibar" en 2012, et cette année "Anne-Marie Miéville".

Depuis 2013 elle programme egalment  la section officielle court-métrages. Depuis  2011 elle est coordinatrice des relations publique de l'European Short Film Festival  (FEC Festival Europeu de Curtmetratges) de Reus, Tarragona, Espagne.
