Missing

Zig Dulay
Philippines
2013 | 0:20:00

"Missing" tells a love story of MAKUY and CARL, both student-activists. On the eve of Makuy’s birthday, he goes home from an exposure trip. After witnessing the squabble of his parents, he left home to search for CARL and to celebrate with him instead. As he goes along the way to find his partner, the truth unfolds. He is a wandering soul searching for truth.
Makuy is one of the increasing numbers of victims of enforced disappearances in the country. He belongs to the missing people imprisoned in a society of oblivious justice and truth. Thus, the film wants to impart, the disappeared truth is the absence of freedom.

In sickness and in health, should marriage really be an unconditional partnership that should never be broken? Christina, in her 30's, is married to Hector, a husband who's paralyzed and therefore physically incompetent to consummate their marriage. She wants to liberate herself from a sexless union. Her needs as a woman are unfulfilled. But her love for Hector, and her commitment to him coupled with the dictates of her faith and marital vows, and her sympathy and care for her husband keeps her in "cage of marriage," where she suffers in melancholic solitude, yet contemplates on freedom and rediscovering her true worth.

Ang Katapusang Bagting

Remton Siega-Zuasola
Philippines
2010 | 0:28:46

Not shot in one take, because Remton has already been there, done that many times, and excelled in them. Now what he does is a sweep of generations, the past meeting the present, and the present meeting the future, a tale of romance and chances wrapped in sweet, not to mention terrible, longing.

The FISDN presents film secions focused on different countries and regions. This section intends to discover and explore different spaces and cultures with the aim to understand the specific regional, political and social circumstances, do reconstruct the emotional and intellectual spécificities of a special region or country. In this critical work we belief it's essencial to prefer films which rufuse, in its form and expression, the retake of sterotype ways of reality restituition. This refuse is an act of resistance against the actual period of "globalisation", which inclins to impose one dominating model of culture and habitutes.
