Mermaids is a dialogue between two sisters about the weaving together of memory and space. This short film was shot between Brazil and France, hovering over the memories of a deserted house and the images it left in the two sister's imaginations. The younger one has been living in Brazil since the separation. She has not seen France since that time, and when she talks about it, she doesn't know whether her memories come from imagination or experience. The older sister's memory is still very much alive. She is the one who travels from one country to the other, chasing the echoes of their memories. The two sisters thus share images of Britain and Brazil, blending the contrasts and harmonious similarities of the sea landscapes they offer to our views.
