We are not there, we do not find ourselves, almost lost, almost suspended. Alert, ready to shoot, the danger is out of range and has no signals. Going toward the light to take dangerous risks. Restless tremor of face the horizon keeping our eyes wide open. Assuming or foreseeing the abyss, in a further condition in which we play the “non-adherence” to the present time.

Found Found Found, his most recent video essay, expands his trip through Eastern Europe into a reflection on a visible change in geopolitics, suggesting that, “surveillance, metamorphosed from avant-garde and minimalist cinema, [is] the 'new norm', and witness[ing] the new stasis that hypermobility institutes globally and the florid thinking it elicits."

In 2010, Noam Chomsky, a linguist and political activist, was invited to give a talk in Birzeit University near Ramallah. Identified with the radical left, Chomsky was denied entry to Israel and sent back to Jordan. Shortly after the incident, Dana Weiss from the Israeli Channel 2 met with him at the hotel lobby in Amman for a 40- minute interview. During the interview, deep ideological tensions between Chomsky and Weiss surfaced. In the video, the interview language is cut apart into individual word fragments. This material is then recomposed into a new monologue told by a third, invisible character. The tense tone of the interview clashes with the intimacy of the new text. The repositioning of words allows the invisible character to articulate intimate thoughts that Chomsky and Weiss can’t express. According to Chomsky’s theory “Universal-Grammar”, language enables the pronunciation of endless expressions with a limited amount of words- a vocabulary. Similar to verbal language, the video’s image is a system with an inner grammar. It depicts a deserted landscape, portrayed through a complex of digital fragments. In this landscape, the relations between a limited amount of fragments create endless variations of the image.

This film is an excavation experience among the forms of the fictional film, especially of melodrama. Emblem of cinema as an imitation of life, under his polished surface melodrama hides the restlessness of life itself. Starting from the cliché of the woman crying over a lost love, a journey begins in search of the background radiation of fiction cinema. It was necessary to forget every linguistic and dramaturgical convention, and get lost in a multitude of images and sounds, of crystal universes about to explode and subatomic labyrinths, to the point where image ceases to represent, and becomes pulsation. It weaves fields of modulated tensions, and reveals the vibration of the unseen. Cinema becomes a language of the invisible. A whisper that one can hear between porosities and ripples of the image as simulation.
