Paul Wright

Paul Wright was born in the town of Lower Largo, Scotland in 1981.He graduated from the RSAMD in Glasgow where his first film, 'Hikikomori' won the Scottish Bafta for Best New Work followed by a Bafta nomination in 2007 for Best Short Film. The film also won Best Drama at the regional and national Royal Television Society awards. In the same year Paul Wright was named as one of Screen International's 'Stars of Tomorrow'.
In 2009 he made 'Believe' which won the Golden Leopard for Best International Short Film at Locarno Film Festival as well as major awards at Winterthur, Miami and Leeds International Film Festival; the film was also shown at Edinburgh and London Film Festivals. In 2010, 'Photos of God' was in competition for the Golden Bear at Berlinale shorts and 'Until the River Runs Red' was shown at Edinburgh International Film Festival and won a the Bafta in 2011.

Paul Wright is based in Fife and is currently developing his first feature film with Warp. He hopes to continue making fresh and original work in fresh and original ways, exploring beauty in the darkest of places.
