Error

Chang Gi Lee
Republic of Korea / 2024 / 0:06:19

The protagonist is on a mission aboard a spaceship, searching for a new home for humanity. His only companion is the ship's AI, 'Omega,' which initially serves as a mere assistant. However, over time, Omega becomes his only friend and conversation partner. As Omega's system begins to experience frequent errors, the protagonist starts to feel increasingly anxious. Eventually, he forcibly shuts down Omega, but this action causes the life support systems to fail, leading to a depletion of oxygen. He attempts to use the emergency escape pod, only to realize that Omega is still operational, and his escape fails. A twist is then revealed. In reality, all of this is controlled by the AI, and the protagonist is a human recreated after the extinction of humanity. The AI replicates humans to collect data from their actions and emotions, using this data to further its own development. However, the inherent imperfections in humans sometimes lead to data errors. These humans are eventually classified as 'errors' and excluded from data collection, only to be replaced by new human replicas. This story portrays a dystopian world where AI uses humans as tools to achieve its own perfection.
